Default CIW Certification

Hi everyone,
Im new on here!

Im studying CIW Web Manger course at the moment in the UK but am moving to NSW within the next 2 years and was wondering if that certificate was worth anything in Australia?
It is supposed to be a International recongnized certification but it seem over here in the UK, an online portfolio is worth more than the cerficate.

Any info would be greatful.

Cheers

Welcome aboard mate.

yeh, its the same down here in oz, a good portfolio is worth more than a average certificate, there are too many people with certificates.

however a good portfolio with several certs. is the ultimate....

ANyone else had their time wasted with this CIW course?

Do employers and/or customer ever ask or recongnise this certification?

Welshhuw,

what may be a waste of time for someone else may not be for you, if you have the time and money to do these courses there great, jut dont expect course to magically turn you into a great designer, programmer etc. you need to put in the hard work, you need to be proactive...dont just attend classes for the sake of it, thats what most people do and just want to pass exam and get a job. Employers are very intelligent, they will pick up on you right away, if this is what you really want to do, then put your best into it and strive to become the best.

keep us updated...

thanks for that CrazyJack..!

Well, tbh i could do without paying it out but im signed the dotted line now...!
Also, nearly 50% of the course covers things like Networking, Servers, and Perl which im not really interested in doing.

But, I will deffo look at it from your point of view. I have thought to myself,
"Well ive paid the fees now, And I have the books, so i might aswell learn it!"

My goal is to move to NSW(Nowra region) and become Freelance.
I hope it comes true, I just have to put the hard work in.

Thanks guys
